Project Overview (public release)
The project "Digital Data Strategy for Airbus A220" addresses the challenge of improving the efficiency of discrete aircraft manufacturing by developing cloud-based data management systems (DBMS) and artificial intelligence tools for production planning, workforce coordination, and real-time decision-making. Conducted in collaboration with Airbus Canada, the project will offer practical digital solutions to minimize operational costs and maximize productivity — directly supporting the ramp-up of A220 aircraft production.
Specifically, this project will advance cloud DBMS, distributed computing, and applied AI for industrial applications. It will develop scalable edge-to-cloud file systems, lean processing frameworks, and AI-driven models to assess production readiness and optimize work order prioritization.
These innovations will strengthen Airbus's internal capabilities in cloud data management and AI integration, while also reinforcing Québec aerospace sector by training students interdisciplinary skills, supporting specialized jobs, and advancing Canada's leadership in Industry 4.0 innovation.
