Projects at DISCOS
We are a young, vibrant, and dynamic research group, passionate about collaborating with industry to tackle real-world problems and advance state-of-the-art solutions. Our expertise spans the field of distributed computing and systems, including -- but not limited to -- AI-driven systems, blockchains, cloud computing, and database management systems (DBMS).
Our projects span a broad spectrum. From building geo-scale systems and services for banking and trading, to hardening blockchains against security threats, to developing cloud DBMS solutions that redefine smart manufacturing in Industry 4.0 — we turn new ideas into scalable, real-world systems.
This page highlights some of our flagship projects and offers a glimpse into what we're building next!

Digital Data Strategy for A220
(DIAPO)
-- Signature Project of Industry 4.0
Partnering with Airbus Canada, the DIAPO project aims to optimize the complex discrete manufacturing of A220 by enabling smart digitalization through cloud DBMS and AI-driven solutions. DIAPO will minimize operational costs and maximize production efficiency, strengthening Quebec's aerospace sector and advancing Canada's leadership in Industry 4.0

Fast Consensus and Fault Tolerance for Distributed Transactions
-- Signature Project of
Distributed DBMS
Consensus algorithms are the backbone of data consistency in distributed applications. They power critical operations like transactions in databases, ledgers in blockchains, state management in cloud computing, and model updates in distributed training.

VGuard: Blockchains for V2X
-- Signature Project of
blockchain applications
The widespread adoption of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) in vehicles has raised concerns among consumers, regulators, and lawmakers about the assignment of legal responsibility in the event of accidents. To address these challenges, VGuard offers a high-performance solution that acts as an immutable ledger for recording evidence within Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) networks, particularly in highly dynamic and unstable environments.
